Championing Minority Contractors In Our Communities

November 30, 2018

The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) is the oldest and most reputable minority construction trade association within the United States of America. Founded in San Francisco, California in 1969 with the express purpose of furthering the cause of minority contractors, NAMC shows no signs of slowing down today. NAMC focuses on building bridges and reducing barriers that blocked equal footing for its members. The association will not stop until there is full equality for all minority construction firms.

Pursuing multifaceted goals, NAMC provides access (to contract and resource opportunists), advocacy (law and government actions), and contractor readiness (education, training, and growth) for minority contractors. NAMC stands behind the adage that “knowledge is power.” NAMC aims to be the principal force for the expansion of opportunities for minority contractors across the United States. Maintaining professional and ethical standards of business, NAMC utilizes an inclusive and cross-cultural business approach.

Attracting well-respected companies to become member and partners is easy when one considers the caliber and integrity displayed by the founders and all of the executive members since 1969. Some notable partners include Kaiser Permanente, Southern California Edison Company, and The Walt Disney Company. Members flourish with the wide array of available seminars, workshops, networking events, and weekly opportunity bulletins. NAMC also features two annual special events: The Annual Leadership Awards and Annual Golf Tournament.

The benefits do not stop with NAMC’s members, as NAMC helps the neighboring communities whenever an opportunity is identified. Ray Dones, the founder of NAMC, has a legacy of giving back to the community via education, training, and charitable financial assistance; NAMC continues this legacy with honor.

With these core values, all of us here at Monzon and Son Enterprises felt compelled to become a member of the Southern California Chapter of NAMC. How could we not? We are excited to start this journey with the National Association of Minority Contractors Southern California Chapter (NAMC-SC)! Dedicated to the prosperity of our local community and the residents within, we plan to take advantage of NAMC’s membership networking events and other resources.
